HBCU CARES Names Dr. Brittany Holloman as Executive Director

Birmingham, AL — HBCU CARES, a coalition advancing the impact and innovation of Historically Black Colleges, Community Colleges, and Universities across Alabama, proudly announces the appointment of Dr. Brittany A. Holloman as its new Executive Director.

Dr. Holloman brings over a decade of leadership in higher education, student advocacy, and institutional advancement. She most recently served as Chief of Staff at Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina, where she acted as senior advisor to the president, led key presidential initiatives, coordinated campus and community-wide strategic projects, and served as the university’s UNCF Transformation Officer. Her career also includes senior roles at Alabama A&M University and Talladega College, where she focused on student success, compliance, and community engagement.

“Dr. Holloman understands the power and potential of our HBCUs because she’s lived it,” said Perry Jones, Board Chair of HBCU CARES. “Her experience as both a student and a senior administrator within Alabama’s HBCU community gives her a unique perspective that will fuel our next chapter. Her leadership is exactly what HBCU CARES needs as we deepen our reach and accelerate our mission.”

Dr. Holloman will oversee HBCU CARES’ signature initiatives, including the Alabama State Agency Pipeline, workforce training programs, and multi-campus community health education initiatives. Her leadership will align with the organization’s six strategic pillars: collaborative research, workforce development, economic empowerment, policy advocacy, institutional sustainability, and accountability.

“I am honored to return home to serve the institutions and communities that have shaped my life,” said Dr. Holloman. “HBCU CARES represents a bold vision for what’s possible when we invest in our HBCUs as engines of innovation and transformation. I’m excited to work alongside our member institutions and partners to scale this impact and uplift the next generation of leaders.”

Dr. Holloman earned her Ph.D. in Urban Higher Education from Jackson State University, a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from Alabama A&M University, and a Bachelor’s in Biology from Stillman College.
