HBCU CARES Launches State Agency Pipeline Initiative Mini-Grant Program to Strengthen Alabama’s Workforce

HBCU CARES is proud to announce the launch of the State Agency Pipeline Initiative Mini-Grant Program, awarding over $20,000.00 in inaugural mini-grants to five Alabama member institutions: Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, Miles College, Talladega College, and Selma University.

This investment marks a significant milestone in connecting HBCU students to meaningful career opportunities within Alabama’s public sector. The State Agency Pipeline Initiative Mini-Grant Program is designed to support workforce readiness by funding projects such as career development workshops, state agency job fairs, internships, and on-campus programming that prepare students for public service careers.

Mini-grant applications will open on a quarterly cycle, providing multiple opportunities each year for Alabama-based HBCU CARES member institutions to apply. Awards will continue to be dedicated exclusively to Alabama HBCUs and HBCCs, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to strengthening the state’s workforce and uplifting its communities.

“HBCU CARES is committed to ensuring that our institutions serve as engines of opportunity and economic mobility,” said Dr. Brittany A. Holloman, Executive Director & CEO of HBCU CARES. “Through these mini-grants, we are investing directly in our students, our institutions, and Alabama’s future workforce.”

HBCU CARES unites a coalition of Historically Black Colleges, Community Colleges, and Universities to collaboratively harness research, expertise, and programming that creates meaningful economic and workforce opportunities. By focusing on the needs of HBCUs, their students, alumni, and surrounding communities, HBCU CARES works to build a sustainable and equitable future for all.
