HBCU Cares Celebrates Success with New AI Initiative for Students

Updated: Aug 5

HBCU Cares is thrilled to share the success of our latest initiative designed to enhance knowledge and understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) among students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Since its launch in April, the comprehensive 5-week course has engaged students from three esteemed institutions: Miles College, Trenholm State Community College, and Alabama State University.

The course offers a thorough introduction to AI, covering critical topics such as machine learning, data ethics, and the application of AI across various industries. This initiative underscores HBCU Cares' dedication to equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in today's rapidly changing technological landscape.

Fagdeba Bakoyema of Alabama State University shared their experience: "This program has given me a solid foundation in AI. I feel more confident about pursuing a career in technology and making an impact in my community."

Expanding Our Reach

Following the success of our student-focused program, HBCU Cares is excited to announce a new initiative for faculty members, launching this fall. This program will empower HBCU educators with the skills and insights needed to incorporate AI into their curriculum, enriching the educational experience for students.

At HBCU Cares, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and forward-thinking educational environment. By enhancing AI literacy among both students and faculty, we aim to bridge the knowledge gap and prepare our community for the future of work.
