HBCU Cares has teamed up with 100 Black Men of America, Inc. and its chapters in Auburn/Opelika, Huntsville, Mobile, Montgomery, and West Alabama to provide exceptional professional development opportunities for students and mentees. The collaboration targets students from Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, Shelton State Community College, and Tuskegee University, focusing on enhancing their career prospects and leadership skills.
As part of this initiative, students participating in the 100 Black Men of America, Inc.'s Collegiate 100 program were given a unique opportunity to attend the organization's 38th Annual Conference in Atlanta, GA, from June 12-15. HBCU Cares generously sponsored the Collegiate 100 students, enabling them to engage in a series of enriching sessions and networking events.
The conference, themed "Future-Proofing Our Youth, Members, and Communities," featured an array of inspiring discussions and activities designed to equip students with essential skills for their future careers. Participants had the chance to connect with national and international leaders, corporate executives, and industry professionals, discussing potential hiring opportunities and gaining valuable insights into various career paths.
One of the conference's highlights was a fireside chat with Vice President Kamala Harris and entertainer Steve Harvey. This memorable event provided students with inspiring perspectives on leadership, resilience, and the importance of giving back to their communities.
The partnership between HBCU Cares and 100 Black Men of America, Inc. underscores a shared commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders. By providing these professional development opportunities, they aim to ensure that HBCU graduates are well-prepared to thrive in their chosen careers and make significant contributions to their communities.
As a follow-up to this successful collaboration, HBCU Cares will provide travel stipends to students attending the Collegiate 100 Conference in November. This continued support demonstrates HBCU Cares' dedication to fostering educational and professional growth among HBCU students, ensuring they have the resources and opportunities to succeed.
