About
The HBCU CARES Innovators Fellowship & Legacy Launchpad, powered by Innovate Alabama, is a 10-week entrepreneurship and innovation experience designed to help students move from idea to execution. Fellows engage in weekly, two-hour virtual sessions that build a strong entrepreneurial foundation. Throughout the program, participants develop the mindset and skills needed to think and operate like entrepreneurs while learning how to validate ideas, identify real customer problems, and design scalable business models. The curriculum covers key areas including entrepreneurial mindset, business development, financial fundamentals, customer experience, branding and storytelling, legal business structures, technology, and innovation. In addition to structured learning, fellows receive mentorship, coaching, and one-on-one advising to support the development of their ventures. As the program progresses, fellows refine their ideas through hands-on assignments and pitch preparation. The experience culminates in a statewide pitch competition, where participants present their ventures and compete for seed funding to support launch and early growth.
